I am a very amateur astronomer and have been interested in Time for a long time. I liked your article on time. How about introducing the commmon people to the moon's orbit around the earth and the different phases of the moon. At our local observatory we have had people that do not know that they could see the moon in the sky in the daytime.
I have used exact time to find when a particular satelite will be visible to me. I have used Sidereal time to find Venus and Jupiter in the daytime.
And do you get asked how far is it to ____?
My electronics professor started out the course with that one. He named a town that is local to us. Then after the answer was given he asked about other place distances. Then after we guesstimated the distance to some far away large city he told us that he didn't mean FROM HERE. He was making a point of knowing the complete qustion and that things are reletive.
